Ok so now it’s T-Minus 10 weeks until I start my masters degree!
So a few things have changed since my last update -
I bought a few film cameras, 4 to be exact - Two 35mm cameras & two medium format cameras. I’ve come to the conclusion that film photography fits more with my artistic inclinations than digital does. Along with the 4 cameras I’ve also bought a bunch of manual focus lenses & some 120 film stock (film to practice with the medium format cameras) as well as a few other bits (35mm bulk film loader).
I hope to do some film developing myself but for work that needs to be scanned I will send my film(s) off to a lab.
For my masters degree and as a artist I feel the best way for me to fully express my vision & artistic intent is by turning back to film photography. I will take my time thinking a lot more about what I’m shooting, how I’m shooting it & what the outcome should be.
So now I feel I can go back to Micro 4/3rds mirrorless because it will fit in more with the direction I have now chosen to go it. With adapters I can use all the film camera lenses I have as well as the EF lens I have for my DSLR on a M 4/3 camera with the added bonus of IBIS (In Body Image Stabilization).
What you have to understand is that although it might have looked like I was going in a direction it hasn’t felt like that to me, since finishing my BA back in 2012 I have found it hard to find my place as a photographer/artist.
Well that’s it for now, more updates coming.
